RE: Photo Thread - Post a Photo of Your Truck Camper Here

Pulling an overnighter at Chris Flats CG along Hwy 395 in California. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg302/TooTallFord/Camper/DSC_1127-1.jpg height=457 width=640 This is the first dry camping in our camper, in Nevada. RE: Why is an Arctic Fox so cheap?

I don't know how many AF 1160's the local dealer here had but the first one I saw back in January was listed for $46,000 and is now listed for $36,000. Most of that is market driven. I actually wanted that model but the salesman said it was too heavy for my 1 ton. I thought that never happened...lol We ended up buying out Host only after they dropped the price significantly.

RE: Picked up my Host slide motor (Updated with photographs)

I have not heard of it before. I am sorry your Host has given you a bad time on your way home. This has to be a limited circumstance, Host builds a great product in my opinion.

RE: Columbia River Gorge

Ok, from Crater Lake you want to take the Columbia River Gorge? You can take Hwy 97 to Biggs and then head west to Portland on I-84, or take Hwy 197 at Shaniko Junction heading to The Dalles. I like staying in Oregon due to the freeway. It has been a few years since I have traveled Hwy 197 so I can't say what it is like. Hwy 97 is probably better for long trailers.

RE: Oregon Route 58

A lot of truckers use this route. I towed my old 30' toy hauler in November on Hwy 58 with snow. It wasn't bad at all. It is mostly a 2 lane highway with a few pass lanes. ODOT keeps the road well graded so it shouldn't be a problem if there is snow. There is a tunnel which can appear to be too narrow or short especially if there is another truck in the opposing lane but it is adequately sized. No problems.

RE: Reno to Zion

Hey Tom, Hwy 375 referred to as the Extra Terrestrial Highway is very isolated. Hwy 93, 375, and 6 are all open. The town of Rachel has some Area 51 information. I like the route you chose but it isn't a quick one. Once you hit Hwy 93 at Alamo, Nv you can head north on Hwy 93 to Panaca and east on Hwy 319/56 to I-15. I haven't been on that road so I can't say what it is like. Hwy 93, 6, and 375 are decent 2 lane roads.

RE: Crater Lake

I called the Rangers up there. They close a good portion of the park, maybe 2/3's of it after Labor Day Weekend. They still recommend reservations after Labor Day Weekend. We will see it in another 2 weeks.

RE: Crater Lake

Mazama looks like a great place to camp. Anyone been there in the last week or so?

RE: Bigfoot found in GA! Fox News Link/Interview

I think if it was genuine, there wouldn't have been a formal press conference scheduled in the future. The news would have broke very quickly. Didn't something like this happen earlier in the summer? I recall a story about ABSOLUTE proof of extra terrestrial life with a conference set up at a later date.

RE: Chainsaw won't cut straight

I had the same problem, it ended up being a worn bar guide. Got so bad I couldn't even use it (both sides worn) but then I remembered I live in Nevada and just used some nail clippers to cut what I needed. :p (DW came from Oregon!)

RE: jacks not high enough

I have been good with blocks. I got them from the dealership, they had a laminated beam they cut up. It works great and is about a 6x8x12, very stable.

Maybe not everywhere, but I've heard it used in at least two states. - The mosquito is our state bird. One of those states must be Alaska! Gamersredneckwife, I haven't heard that one before.
